| | | | | | I have 4 days that I've planned to dress up in my Halloween costume for, A local wrestling show (costume's encouraged), a Halloween wedding social (socials seem to be big here and no where else), a friends Halloween/birthday party and Halloween itself. This year I spent quite a bit on money on my costume. I'm dressing up as Jessica Rabbit and so I bought a red formal dress. I bought it online for $114USD, alterations were $10USD and shipping was $33USD. It is a beautiful dress and well worth the cost in fact I plan to buy more from that company. My friends know I plan to dress up as Jessica Rabbit and a few have seen it now (as one of the events has passed). But my friends smoke a lot, cigarettes and pot and I really don't want that smell in my dress. Since they all smoke on a regular basis (and I don't) I notice the smell a lot more than they do. Am I a horrible friend if I skip dressing up because I don't want my expensive dress to smell? The sad thing is that that smell, no matter how many times you wash your clothes will never really be gone. What can I do? | | | | | |

| | | | | | I have seen a trend on Yahoo Answers recently, it is at a minimum annoying; and in my opinion it really should be a community guidelines violation. The trend consists of people posting questions and then dictating what the answer may or may not be. For example you see a question that looks like something this: "My child has coughing and running a fever for the last three days. What should I do? If you are going to say 'take her to see a doctor' don't bother answering." Or another example: "I am not doing well in school, what can I do to get better grades?...if you are going to tell me get off the computer and study then don't even bother answering my question" That's just a couple of quick examples but you get the idea. To me this is absurd. Don't ask me a question and then tell me how to answer it. The obvious solution to caring for a sick child is to get help from someone that has medical training (like a doctor). There is no magical solution to getting good grades in school, you do what we all had to do. Put down that video game controller, pick up a book and study. Yahoo Answers is a open forum. When you post a question here it is going to be seen by people from all over the world. People of all different ages, races, cutlers, occupations, educations levels, life experiences, married/single/divorced, from no children to one baby to several adult children etc and on and on and on. Therefore it stands to reason that you are going to get a wide variety of opinions. If you like or agree with the person's answer, then you rate it 'thumbs up'; if you dislike or disagree with the answer, you rate it thumbs down...that how the site works (at least IMHO). So my questions is...if a person is asking what is basically a loaded question...is it (or should it be) a community guidelines violation? | | | | | |
